Meigs County recaptures escaped inmate

Dustin Miller was in jail after a lengthy chase last May

DECATUR, Tennessee (WDEF) – An inmate who escaped from the Meigs County jail over the weekend is back in custody.

The Sheriff says Dustin Miller escaped while he was on recreation time at the jail on Sunday.

He is not offering more details on the capture other than a K9 team from neighboring Rhea County helped track him down.

Meigs County also got help from TBI, US Marshall’s, McMinn County Sheriff’s Dept, Chattanooga PD, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, ATF, and Decatur Police Dept.

Miller was in jail after a long chase last May.

Sweetwater Police tried to stop him in a stolen pickup from Bradley County.

The chase went into Meigs County, where officers say Miller stole another pickup to continue his run.

That chase lasted more than an hour before he was caught.
