Memorial Day gas projections

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Gas prices are projected to be lower than last year for Memorial Day weekend, but Americans are still cautious about traveling.

GasBuddy released a 2023 Summer Travel Survey on Thursday.

In that survey, they project that Memorial Day weekend gas prices will be $1.10 less than in 2022. They also predict average U.S. gas prices to be $3.53 per gallon that weekend.

However, the survey shows that only 64% of Americans plan to take a summer road trip this year. But that number is up 58% from last year.

In addition, GasBuddy revealed that only 60% of those planning on taking a trip have already confirmed plans by booking.
