Meth bust on I 59 in northeast Alabama
FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – Fort Payne police say they have taken a large amount of meth off the street in one bust.
Officers were conducting routine patrols on I 59 when they spotted a gray SUV with a couple of moving violations.
When the pulled it over, they noticed that all three people inside were acting nervous and sweating a lot.
So they split them up and questioned them.
Officers say none of their stories matched.
The chief says the officers spotted a half-cut straw in the cup holder with a crystal substance on it.
After a search, they say they found crystal meth, smoking pipes, needles and two handguns.
The suspects and charges are:
Robin Michelle Johnson (Jonesboro, TN)
Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Concealed Weapon without a Permit, and Possession of Prescription Drugs.
Harley Zachary Davidson (Appalachia, VA)
Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd, Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Gary Wayne Lambert (Appalachia, VA)
Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Concealed Weapon without a Permit.
Chief Randy Bynum says “A large amount of Methamphetamine was taken off the street because of the good police work of Officer Trevor Newsome and Lieutenant David Smith.”
