Authorities raid suspected drug house in Bryant
BRYANT, Alabama (WDEF) – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office worked with U.S. Postal Inspectors to make five drug arrests over the weekend in Bryant, Alabama.
The Sheriff says they seized two pounds of ICE, a meth lab, marijuana, cash and a gun.
Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said “this in a major drug seizure for our County and the North Sand Mountain area”.
The investigation started about six months ago.
Postal authorities discovered they were shipping quantities of meth.
The contacted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and both waited for James McDaniel to pick up his package at the post office.
It had a pound of meth.
“It’s not unusual at all.. we’ve made cases like this in the past. Not very often, but there’s no telling how much drugs goes through the postal service that we don’t know about.”
They then got a warrant to search his home in Bryant, where they found another pound of ICE.
Here are those arrested on Saturday:
James McDANIEL age 51 of Bryant, Alabama who was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine, Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Forged Instrument and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
McDANIEL remains in custody on a $77,800 bond.
Robin MOORE age 38 of Higdon, Alabama was charged with Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Possession of Marijuana.
MOORE remains in custody of $25,600 bond.
Charles GASS age 35 of Trenton, Georgia who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Failure to Pay on a Speeding Ticket (warrant).
GASS remains in custody on a $600 bond.
Michael CLOUD age 58 of Trenton, Georgia who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House.
CLOUD was released on $300 bond.
James BROYLES age 49 of Wildwood, Georgia who was charged with Loitering in a Drug House.
BROYLES was released on a $300 bond.
“This investigation shows that inter-agency cooperation can lead to large amounts of drugs being taken off of our streets”. “The estimated Street Value of this Methamphetamine is between $120,000 and $250,000 depending on the purity of the product”. “Great job by our Narcotics Unit, State Task Force Agents and the Postal Inspectors”.
