Michael Wilson tries to explain himself before judge today for taking Skyla

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – The non-custodial father from Bradley County accused of taking his two-year old daughter to Colorado, appears before a judge.

Michael Wilson told the judge Monday morning that he was taking his daughter, Skyla, out of an unsafe environment.

Skyla’s grandmother has custody.

Wilson was found earlier this month with Skyla in Grand Junction Colorado, after a nationwide search from an Endangered Child Alert.

The judge set Wilson’s bond at half a million dollars, but not before this exchange with the defendant.

Wilson: “I wasn’t running from anything your Honor, I have never missed a court case, and was not planning on missing . . .

Judge : “Well you’re not going to miss this one.”

Wilson: “And I wasn’t planning on missing the next one either.”
