Oakes found not guilty of planting car bomb

FRANKLIN, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Bledsoe County man was found not guilty today of putting a pipe bomb in a nurse’s vehicle.

Mitchell Hunter Oakes is from Bledsoe County.

But he was accused of placing the bomb at the NHC Place Cool Springs Nursing Home in Franklin in 2016.

The victim discovered the bomb before she started the car.

The bomb squad detonated it inside the car.

The TBI put him on their Top Ten Most Wanted list and arrested him back at home in Pikeville.

But Oakes attorney argued that the bomb was placed by someone else.

And after a three week trial, a jury found Oakes not guilty of all the charges.
