MLK Day Parade and Program
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga came together to honor Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday with events highlighting his legacy of service, equality, and community engagement.
The 56th annual MLK Day Parade began at Miller Park and traveled down Martin Luther King Boulevard to Peeples Street, drawing marching bands, local organizations, and families who lined the streets to celebrate Dr. King’s message and participate in the citywide observance.

His work inspired generations to pursue social justice and community service across the nation.
Following the parade, Dr. Catherine Meeks, Ph.D., delivered the main speech at a program recognizing Dr. King’s life and work.
Attendees enjoyed music from New Zion and New Mount Sinai churches, civic award presentations, and presentations on voting engagement and mental health awareness, while faith and community leaders shared reflections on Dr. King’s enduring impact.
The day brought together families, civic groups, and community leaders, reinforcing his message of unity, service, and social justice.
