Mocs Basketball Add Juco Big Man Transfer Trayvond Massenburg

(gomocs.com) CHATTANOOGA—The Chattanooga Mocs have an addition to the 2016-17 men’s basketball roster. Junior college forward Trayvond Massenburg signed over the weekend to join the defending Southern Conference Champions coach Matt McCall announced Tuesday.

“One key with Trayvond is managing expectations,” McCall noted. “He has some catching up to do on the floor and in the weight room with what our team accomplished over the summer months.

“He brings size and athleticism which we needed to address. With two years of eligibility remaining, he was a good fit for this season and beyond.”

Massenburg is a 6-7, 221-lb., forward from Philadelphia, Pa. He averaged 5.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. His freshman campaign was at Miami Dade College posting 6.3 points, 6.1 boards and 1.4 blocks per contest.

Trayvond prepped at Roberts Vaux Promise Academy in Philadelphia and Mack Prep in Charlotte. He helped Vaux to the 2013 Class A PIAA State Title with a game-high eight rebounds in the championship game. He is a 2-star prospect according to verbalcommits.com.

The Mocs return four starters and seven total letter winners from last year’s school-record, 29-win SoCon Championship squad.
