Mocs Face Another Tough Team in Home Opener Against UT Martin
Chattanooga-(WDEF) After two tough road trips to start the season, the Mocs finally get to play at home Saturday night.
But once again, UTC will face another rugged opponent in UT Martin.
Leaving LSU with a loss wasn’t fun for Coach Arth, but the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium was pretty cool.
Said Arth:”It was certainly an incredible, incredible environment. I was ready to get things thrown at me. I was ready to get called a bunch of names. That really didn’t happen.”
LSU likely didn’t expect a Mocs running back to get close to a hundred yards rushing, but Darrell Bridges finished with 88 yards on the ground.
Said Bridges:”Our offensive line did great. I think opening up 88 yards against an SEC defense means that’s going to be pretty good this year. It was great for us to see that we can be in spots against anybody and be able to push them out of the way.”
After facing Jacksonville State, and then LSU, the Mocs schedule doesn’t exactly lighten up with a tough UT Martin team this weekend.
Said Arth:”It’s great. You are never going to hear me complain about that. You are never going to hear me wish for something else. Going against that top level competition week in and week out is what’s going to help us get to where we are capable of being.”
The Skyhawks feature running back Ladarius Galloway, who rushed for 188-yards against Ole Miss last week.
Said defensive lineman Taylor Reynolds:”We have another great challenge this week. We have played some really great running backs so far, and it just keeps going.”
Coach Arth says he’s ready to make his home debut at UTC.
Said Arth:”We talk about it all the time within our program. We are not just playing for ourselves. We’re not just playing for our program. We are playing for our school. We are playing for everybody that has ever graduated from UTC. We are playing for our city. We are hoping that we have an outstanding crowd.”
Kickoff is set for 6pm at Finley Stadium.
