Mocs Hoping to Expand Athletic Budget For Coaches Salaries

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Mocs basketball coach Matt McCall left Chattanooga on Wednesday to take the head coaching job at UMass.
McCall left after just two seasons at UTC.
His predecessor at UTC, Will Wade, also left after just two years on the job.
UMass nearly tripled McCall’s salary by giving him a contract worth $750,000 a year.
Mocs athletic director David Blackburn says UTC is working to hike the pay for their head coaches.
Said Blackburn:”And we’re really upping our fundraising right now and our ticket sales to compete with the million-dollar a year opportunity. We’re not in a position to do that now. Very few FCS schools are. You can count them on one hand. We pay well, but we can strive and pay better as we continue to grow our program.”
