Mocs Looking For a November to Remember to Close Out the Regular Season
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) They remember what you do in November.
It’s an old football cliche, and the Mocs are hoping to make it a November to remember as they close out their regular season.
Chattanooga is 4-2 in SoCon play with two conference games left.
They’re both must-win situations if the Mocs want a shot at the playoffs.
Said head coach Tom Arth:”You come into a season. You’re hope isn’t that you just play the games that are on the schedule. Your hope is to play games beyond, beyond what’s scheduled.”
A good quarterback gives a team hope.
Nick Tiano already has over two-thousand yards passing this season.
Said Arth:”I told somebody the other day like I’d hire him tomorrow to coach for us. Like I’d hire him today to coach for us, and would have no problem putting him in front of a room and having him teach our offense. He knows it as well as our coaches do.”
Now Tiano did throw a pick six against VMI.
Ball was tipped and returned for a touchdown, although Tiano blew up the guy at the goal line.
Said center Noah Ramsey:”I was right there behind him. I told him great hit man. That was awesome. You don’t see that a lot by quarterbacks, but he laid him out.”
Chattanooga also got after VMI’s quarterback piling up seven sacks.
Said Arth:”Keeping the quarterback contained and in the pocket is so important for your rushing, and that was something we really struggled with at the beginning of the season.”
Defensive lineman Isaiah Mack had 3 sacks Saturday, and apparently he felt some sacks were stolen from him by defensive back Jordan Jones who had a pair of sacks.
Said Jones:”He jokingly said I had no business being back there in his area. It was funny. (laughs) He told me to kind of stay in my place back there inside the back end and cover the guys I need to cover up. But it was good to kind of get down there and venture with the big guys a little bit.”
The Mocs travel to Furman for a 1pm kickoff on Saturday.
