Mocs Must Deal With High Powered Offense of Top Ranked Sam Houston State
Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Chattanooga Mocs breezed through the opening round of the playoffs, blasting Weber State 45-14.
But round two of the playoffs will prove to be a challenge, as UTC battles undefeated Sam Houston State and their high-powered offense.
Nothing tests a defense like the nation’s top scoring offense, which the Mocs will face this Saturday in Sam Houston State.
Said Mocs head coach Russ Huesman:”I mean they’re averaging almost 56 points a game. 570-yards a game. I think their quarterback is a potential All-American. I don’t want to make it seem all gloomy here. I mean they’re good no question about it, but I like our team too.”
The Bearkats are undefeated and ranked number one, yet their seeded fifth for the playoffs?
Said Huesman:”You would figure an 11-0 football team would at least be a top four.”
Said quarterback Alejandro Bennifield:”Seeding doesn’t mean anything. Anyone could lose any day. Number one team could lose to number 20. You never know. It’s just who comes out and plays that day.”
For Alenjandro Bennifield, he’s just worried about the Mocs.
Said Bennifield:”Our motto has been the same all year, it’s all about us. We play our game, we should win. When we haven’t played our game, we have lost.”
The Mocs know it’s a big game.
Instead of the usual bus ride for a road game, Chattanooga will fly to Huntsville, Texas for the playoff showdown.
Said Bennifield:”Well it’s not the big stage yet. The next time we go to Texas, it will be the big stage, but this time it’s just another game.”
Said Huesman:”I think this is going to be a great game. This is a good match-up. I think this is probably as good a second round matchup you could possibly come up with.”
The Mocs and Bearkats kick at 3:05pm on Saturday, and they game will be broadcast on ESPN3.
