Mocs Not Putting Much Stock in Their Number One Seed

Since the Chattanooga Mocs won the SoCon regular season title, they at least secured a berth in the NIT tournament. But UTC has their eye on the bigger prize.

Mocs want to earn a ticket to the Big Dance…the NCAA tournament. In order to do that, they’ve got to win the Southern Conference tournament this week in Asheville. Mocs got a first round bye as the number one overall seed and won’t play until Saturday. But head coach Lamont Paris says the top seed really doesn’t mean much when it comes tournament time.

Said Paris:”I think maybe if you go through the season undefeated and your average margin of victory is 20. I guess there probably are some teams that don’t believe maybe they can beat you. We’ve had enough close games and or losses to teams in our conference that I don’t think that’s the case. We’ll just go there and again concentrate on us and what we do. Be ready to go have have fun and let loose and play basketball.”
Said guard Malachi Smith:”I’m not coming back to Chattanooga without the nets, so that’s the plan.”
