Mocs Tre’ McLean Named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Chattanooga’s Tre’ McLean has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games played Dec. 6-12. The senior led all scorers with 35 points in a 96-85 come-from-behind win over Marshall last week.

The Charleston, S.C., native set career highs in points (35), made field goals (11) and steals (five) in the win. McLean also set a personal best with 10 made free throws in the win as he logged 38 minutes of action for the Mocs. With UTC trailing midway through the second half, the senior scored 12 points in a 14-2 UTC run that gave Chattanooga a 64-59 lead it would not relinquish.

McLean’s 35 points were the most for at UTC player since Z. Mason scored 41 in a win over Hiwassee in 2013.

The Mocs (7-2) return to action Wednesday (Dec. 14) when they host Tennessee Wesleyan.

Other top performers in the Southern Conference included The Citadel’s Zane Najdawi, Furman’s Devin Sibley, Mercer’s Demetre Rivers, UNCG’s R.J. White, Samford’s Wyatt Walker and Wofford’s Ryan Sawvell.
