More on Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Victim of Chattanooga Shooting

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Fellow marines are eulogizing Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan who was killed in the Chattanooga shooting.

A friend posted on his Facebook page that “There’s no Marine you would want that was better in combat than him."

Another said “He’d been shot at so many times over the years and then for this to happen at home in the United States.”

Sullivan served two tours in Iraq and survived the Battle of Abu Ghraib in 2005.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Sullivan was a native of Springfield Massachusetts and lived in Boston.

He had just turned 40 and was a few years from retirement.

He has been a Marine since 1997 and was currently an artillery instructor.

On his Facebook page, he described his role with the Marines this way.

“IT REAL OH YOU ARE DAMN SKIPPY ITS REAL I AM A GUNNY.”
