Dave meets the woman who founded the organization dedicated to survivors of human trafficking

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – The organization “Love’s Arm” has helped people since its inception back in 2005. It does all it can to meet the needs of survivors of human trafficking, prostitution and addiction. Offering all types of services.

It was founded by Mimi Nikkel, herself a survivor of human trafficking.

Nikkel says she’s somewhat amazed, and certainly gratified, as to how much the organization has grown. But not really surprised.

“It’s very accelerated. It’s grown organically. It wasn’t just ideas. We just went out there and started loving folks. We see all sorts of people supporting this work.”

And the work continues, especially after finalizing an official partnership with CEMPA Community Cares. That’s a health group that provides high quality care through various support services.

One of those services is the mobile testing van. The van will hit high trafficked areas in our area. With a number of outreaches each and every month.

Nikkel says hitting the streets…..taking services right to the needy…..whatever it might be…..really expands the Love’s Arm services. And for those who are facing difficult times.

“If you think about not having a home or resources, just trying to survive, the priority of health care gets dropped to the lowest place.”

Where the mobile van goes is not released to the public. For many reasons.

But it will actually take to the streets….once again, later this week.
