More To The Story with Staley: New Hindu Temple

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – You can’t miss it on Hickory Valley Road here in Chattanooga. Just off the interstate.

A brand spanking new massive Hindu temple and community center. It will serve all followers of the Hindu faith.

It didn’t take very long to build this facility, which opened on May 8th. Just 14 months. All paid for by donations.

The cost to build this 25,000 square foot complex? Six and a half million dollars.

A massive upgrade from the old installation on Bonnie Oaks Drive.

“Our old facility was over 30 years old. It had seen its weathering. It was not a building built to be a temple. We made great use of it. This new facility can host larger events, as well as engage our youth a little bit more.”

Like all religions, there are different branches of Hinduism. This is an “all inclusive” temple. In the Hindu faith, it’s “Sanatan Mandir.” Everybody is welcome here.

“Sanatan Mandir means all around the world, people have good health. And good achievement. And good knowledge. Everything is good.”

Here in our area, the Hindu community is growing. This facility already has well over 300 families that attend.
And you should know, it was built not only for the present, but for the future as well.

“Sanatan Temple is here to help unite our community. It’s to give a legacy to the younger generation. And to allow the community to continue our faith.”

The facility plans on hosting approximately 40 events a year. Membership costs 351 dollars.
