Morning Round-up: Interim Superintendent Candidates and NLRB Declines VW’s Union Challenge

The Hamilton County Board of Education will meet today in a special called session immediately following the scheduled work session.

Board members will discuss the eight candidates vying for the position of interim superintendent.

The list includes current Interim Superintendent Dr. Kirk Kelly and Normal Park principal Jill Levine.

The National Labor Relations Board has declined to take up Volkswagen’s challenge of a union vote at its lone U.S. assembly plant in Tennessee.

The German automaker had sought to appeal a decision that allowed the group of roughly 160 workers specializing in the repair and maintenance of machinery and robots to hold a unionization vote.

The United Auto Workers won that election,  but the company declined to enter into contract negotiations while challenging the election to the federal labor panel.

The NLRB panel denied the challenge on Wednesday on the basis that it raised “no substantial issues warranting review.”

The group, Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty and a former Death Row Inmate plan to speak tonight at Cleveland State Community College.

The event will feature a panel discussion on capital punishment and a screening of To Honor Life, a short film about the death penalty in America.

That’s happening tonight at 6:00PM.
