Mother Charged with Child Neglect in East Ridge
Police arrested 26 year old Kimberly McClendon on Thursday.
The case started when a Child Protective Services caseworker made a report to the East Ridge Police Department.
She wanted backup when she did an inspection of the home.
Their were four children in the home, ages 1, 3, 4 and 9.
The officers found bugs crawling through the home, no beds, unsecured electrical outlets, poor ventilation, and dangerous trash everywhere.
They also found an extension cord running from the neighbors home, through the kids swing set and into the house.
Investigators say McClendon consented to a drug test on the site and tested positive for Methamphetamine, Methadone, Amphetamine, and Benzodiazepines.
The children were left in the custody of their father, but they were all ordered to leave the property, which will most likely be condemned.
