Ms. Piggy’s great rescue
DADE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — If you were wondering what caused the slowdown on I-24 East earlier, Dade County had a few pigs running wild, causing traffic delays.
Dade County police confirm that someone lost a pig yesterday evening on I-24 — and just left it.
Luck’s Rescue was contacted immediately.
They say the owners were pulled over by state troopers and told them they didn’t care about her and weren’t coming back for her.
After Deputies Broom and Carver tried for about an hour to get the pig wrangled — without success — off-duty Deputy Payne was driving by when he saw the event unfolding.
Deputy Payne exited his vehicle, went straight to the median, swept that big, beautiful girl off her feet, and got her tied up with some assistance from Deputy Carver.
Luck’s Rescue pulled up to the scene 30 minutes later, and within the hour, a family arrived to save her and give her a permanent home on their 15-acre farm.
This was a beautiful example of a community coming together and what everyone can do as a team!
Luck’s Rescue has promised the family they would cover her vet bill.
