Mudslide closes part of Dug Gap Road near Dalton

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – It will likely be Friday before Dug Gap road in Whitfield county is open again.

A mud slide Wednesday sent dirt and debris across one lane of Dug Gap Battle Road. (see video above)

Whitfield county public works are making an effort to restore traffic through the area.

Part of a nearby ridge, weakened by continuing rain, broke off and covered part of the road.

City and county agencies throughout the tri-state are working to keep roadways open despite high water and mud.
