Multiple road closures and power outages following Tuesday’s severe weather

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Following the severe weather in Hamilton County and neighboring counties on Tuesday, there are multiple reports of wires down, trees down, and flooding which has prompted several road closures.

Power lines and trees are continuing to fall due to the rain-soaked soil. The City of Chattanooga Department of Public Works has issued a list of emergency road closures.

Traffic signals at multiple intersections are off due to power outages in the area. Use caution at the intersection and treat it as a four way stop.

Additionally, many people in Hamilton County are out of power.

EPB Reported Outages at 1:12 A.M.

Chattanooga Fire Department and EPB crews are working to restore service to roads and utilities. Unannounced closures may occur for the next couple of days in the hardest impacted areas.

The Dalton, Georgia area was also impacted by the severe storms.

North Georgia Electric crews are still hard at work trying to get the lights back after nearly 13,000 customers were left with out power.
