Asst. D.A.: “I understand.. my whole career is over”
Dalton, Georgia (WDEF) – The senior assistant District Attorney for Murray County, Georgia has been charged with DUI.
Matthew Rankin was arrested just after midnight on Sunday on the North Bypass.
A Whitfield County deputy says he registered a .19 on the breathalyzer, double the legal limit.
The deputy found more than a dozen empty beer cans in the vehicle.
The Dalton Daily-Citizen reports that in the crime report, Rankin told officers “Y’all got me, and my whole career is over.”
He also faces charges of failure to use signal, improper turn and open container violation.
The District Attorney has place Rankin on administrative leave.
