CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is coming up this weekend. Taking place on Saturday, April 27, 2024, the day allows people across the nation to dispose of their unwanted or expired prescription drugs.

It’s meant to keep those drugs out of the hands of anyone who could purposely or accidentally take them.

The Chattanooga Police Department is alerting the public about Drug Take Back Day. In a social media post, the police department posted the locations people can drop off their unwanted drugs this coming Saturday.

In Hamilton County, here are the locations participating in Drug Take Back Day:

  • Mt. Canaan – 4801 State Route 58
  • Food City, Red Bank – 3901 Dayton Blvd.

The police department also notes the potential for the accidental usage and poisoning from these drugs by small children.
