National Weather Service updates La Nina forecast for fall, winter

The update shows a 55-65 percent La Nina conditions develop over the next 3 months.
La Nina is characteristized by periodic cooling of ocean surface temperatures in central and east-central equatorial Pacific Ocean.

During La Nina conditions, the southeastern US sees more variability in storm activity during the winter months of December, January, and February.
