New Bradley school deputies are on duty
CLEVELAND (WDEF) – This week, Bradley County installed a new layer of security at Bradley Central and Walker Valley High Schools.
Armed deputies now man a security booth at the entrance to both campuses.
They keep a log of anyone coming or going from the school.
Sheriff Watson says, “It is my belief a strong presence of trained law enforcement
at schools is one of the essential elements to deter a school shooting.”
There are now officers at all 16 schools in the county system.
Sheriff Watson stated. “While law enforcement officers provide security for
schools, this should not be the only concentrated effort to ensure the safety of
students and faculty. Our agency will continue having conversations with school
administrators to explore securing school’s multiple entrances, while adding and
enhancing surveillance cameras, communications systems, and identification
badges.”
