New Covenant Fellowship Church festival included a refreshing treat

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The New Covenant Fellowship Church held their fall festival today, which included an unusual and refreshing twist.

The fall festivities are in full swing, so we decided to stop by another festival today, but what we saw when we got there was very inspiring.

Instead of throwing the event on their own church grounds, they decided to host it right outside the Brainerd Recreation Center, where many went to vote.

The goal was to draw community members into the festival for some good food and family fun activates after casting their votes.

Tianna, a youth at the church says, “Our church is like just a whole community, you know? We might not know each other, but we all are family and sisters and brothers in Christ.”

There was fun music, games for the children and teenagers, and even free food being served by the ladies of the church.

The older members of the congregation say they encourage their young people to get out and vote, because they feel it’s an American honor and privilege that shouldn’t be wasted.

“Well, it is important for the parents to educate their children and letting them know what to do when it comes time for voting,” says the Discipleship Pastor, Jerry Marshall. “They’re the future and everything that’s going on right now is going to affect them and their children later on, even after they’re gone.”

Some elders say that they look at this season as a time to be more active in the community and use it as a chance to bring people together, while there’s so much division.

Chatere, another youth from the church adds, “Just speaking on the giving back to the community, every Sunday after church, our church has brunch for people who probably won’t go home and get to have a meal… it shows how our church gives back to our community.”

The turnout for the festival was quite spectacular, and it truly helped spread their message in a kind, and practical manner.

It was certainly a wonderful idea to bring the community together during this election season, no matter where your vote lies.
