New Law Makes Cursive Writing In Alabama Schools A Requirement
MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) – For most of us, tablets, computers, and smartphones have replaced the art of penmanship, but a new law in Alabama is making sure cursive handwriting doesn’t die.
Lexie’s Law is set to take effect August 1st and will require all public schools to teach cursive handwriting by the end of third grade.
At least five other states have similar laws on the books since the common core curriculum doesn’t require cursive.
