New marathon coming to Chattanooga

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) The Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau announced the creation of the Chattanooga Marathon Thursday.

It’s a new community-wide sporting event.

The first one will be March 4-6, 2016.

City and county leaders say the event will continue to highlight our community.

They expect athletes and spectators to come in from out of town; driving tourism.

The event weekend will include an Expo, Kids Fun Run, 5K, Team Relay and a Half and Full Marathon.

The course will go through downtown, North Shore and St. Elmo areas and has never been competed on.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke says the marathon will also have high tech features; using our Gigabit infrastructure.
