New school sign-in system leads to 3 arrests

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities in Clarksville say a new sign-in system at the public school district helped sheriff’s deputies arrest three people listed on the sex offender registry who checked-in with local schools.

The Leaf-Chronicle reports the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System installed a new sign-in system that automatically checks visitors for sex offender status and other information.

Three men listed on the sex offender registry signed in at three different schools while attempting to visit or sign out a family member. They were all charged with being on the premises of a public school when the offender has reason to believe children under 18 years of age are present.
