New Senior Center Plans Announced
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County is moving forward with plans to create its first dedicated senior center, expanding resources for older adults in the Ooltewah and Collegedale communities.
The project, led by the Hamilton County Health Department in partnership with Parks and Recreation, will transform the current Ooltewah Health Clinic into a new space focused on connection, wellness, and community programming for seniors.
The renovation is set to begin May 1, marking another investment in local facilities following the development of community centers in Harrison and Birchwood.
To ensure residents continue receiving care during the transition, the Health Department will shift clinic operations while keeping services accessible.
A mobile health unit will be stationed at the Ooltewah location every Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering services such as immunizations, family planning, and STI testing and treatment.
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services will remain available by appointment at the Third Street and Birchwood locations.
All current clinic staff will transition to the Third Street location, maintaining continuity of care for patients.
Meanwhile, Parks and Recreation plans to host community listening sessions, giving residents a chance to help shape programming and amenities for the future senior center.
County leaders say the goal is to create a space that not only meets healthcare needs, but also fosters connection and support for the area’s growing senior population.
