New trail connects City of Chickamauga to Battlefield

CHICKAMAUGA, GA (WDEF) — The ribbon was officially cut today on a new walking path in Chickamauga.

The John Culpepper Battlefield Connector Trail runs all the way from downtown Chickamauga to the nearby Battlefield.

The path was originally envisioned by former Chickamauga City Manager John Culpepper.

Mr. Culpepper is retired, but he was there to cut the ribbon on the trail he campaigned for years ago.

John Culpepper, Former Chickamauga City manager told us, “To me this is a recreational trail, but it’s also a heritage trail because of the history associated with this trail.”

The trail follows a path that was originally used by soldiers during the civil war
