Next Door Neighbors Stunned by News of Boy Shot

Emergency personnel swarmed this house on Buck Trail Drive after reports of gunfire Sunday night.

Karen Brown has lived next door to the house for 34 years and tells News 12 she’s never met the residents.

"I really don’t know the neighbors at all," Brown said. "I didn’t even really know anyone was living there to tell you the truth. But my husband thought somebody was living there because he hears music at night coming from there."

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the house around 8 p.m. to find a 13-year-old boy suffering from a gun shot wound to the face.

He was immediately transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital.

"I saw them put somebody in the ambulance on the stretcher but at that point I still didn’t know what had happened," Brown said.

The sheriff’s office released a statement Monday morning that the boy is responsive and cooperating with investigators.

Until we learn more on how and why this happened, many questions remain surrounding this house neighbors thought was abandoned.

"I couldn’t believe it when I did hear it was a 13 year old boy that had been shot. I couldn’t believe it because we don’t have anything like that happen here."
