No charges at this time in Chickamauga road rage case

CHICKAMAUGA, Georgia (WDEF) – Walker County officials say they will not be filing charges at this time in the shooting last night near Chickamauga.

They believe it stemmed from a road rage encounter between two motorcycles and an SUV.

It began east of Chickamauga on Lee Clarkson Road, continued onto Highway 341 and ended at a Dollar General Store parking lot.

In the parking lot, the three men got into a fight and motorcyclist Jeremy Dewayne McCrary of Chickamauga fired a 9mm.

He hit and killed the SUV driver, 53 year old Danny Douglas Claire.

Investigators say the two men did not appear to know each other.

Officials are not identifying the other motorcyclist who witnessed the shooting.

Walker County will continue their investigation and present the results to the District Attorney.
