No injuries in 2-alarm fire on Brainerd Road

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Six fire companies responded to the the 3200 block of Brainerd Road around 10am Monday morning.

Brainerd Road was shut down from Seminole Drive to Rosemont Drive while firefighters worked the blaze; it reopened shortly after noon.

Captain Joey Smith with the Chattanooga Fire Department said heavy smoke was coming from the 2 story building when firefighters arrived on scene.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, firefighters found significant fire in a basement apartment of the building.


Fire officials say they were able to extinguish the fire in 20 minutes, but the fire caused an estimated $17,000 in damage.

According to Chattanooga Fire officials, the building had a business on the first floor, apartments on the second floor, and shares a wall with Mr. Happys Restaurant.

Chattanooga Fire says the American Red Cross was called in to help one resident.

According to the Chattanooga Fire Department, the fire appears to be accidental, but what sparked the blaze is still under investigation.
