Man Leads U.S. Marshals, Local Police on Pursuit After Kidnapping

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police captured a kidnapping suspect from Walker County after a chase through Brainerd.

That allegedly happened at Pineview Apartments along route 58.

U.S. Marshals became involved in the search for the kidnapping victim, a woman who is not identified. They say they caught up with Steele’s red truck on Interstate 75 around 10 a.m.

He refused to stop, according to police, and the chase headed into Chattanooga.

It ended on Hickory Valley Road in a church parking lot after a Chattanooga Police car and Hamilton Sheriff cruiser crashed into the truck.

Officials say Steele got out of his truck and tried running from more than a dozen local, state, and federal officials who were just feet behind him.

He was chased a few yards before K-9 dogs attacked him and was tased. According to Chattanooga Police, it was one of their officers who apprehended Steele.

The woman was in the truck and said she was being held against her will. She was checked out by EMS at the scene and released.
