NTSB Preliminary Report on the I 75 Wreck That Killed 6

Chattanooga (WDEF) – The National Transportation Safety Board has issued their preliminary report on the I 75 crash in June.

It finds that the truck driver who hit seven other vehicles had exceeded his hours of service when the crash occurred.

But they are not saying yet how fast he was driving when he hit the line of stalled vehicles.

The investigation confirms that he had two breakdowns and one other wreck on the trip from Kentucky to Florida and back.

The report paints a grisly picture of what happened.

The combo 18-wheeler and refrigerated truck first hit a Toyota Prius, which became wedged in the grill and caught on fire.

It remained stuck there as the truck hit the other vehicles in line.

In all, he hit 3 cars, 2 pickups, and two vans, killing 6 people and injured 4 others.

Eight other people involved in the crashes were not injured.

The NTSB investigation continues.
