The numbers are in for how many people showed up to watch the eclipse in Athens

ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – The city of Athens releases numbers for eclipse visitors on Monday.

The town of 13,000 residents welcomed 25,500 out-of-towners.

10,487 of them gathered at the Athens Regional Park to watch the eclipse.

They came from 35 states and 20 foreign countries to visit the Park.

The city got the numbers through traffic counters, traffic cameras and personal surveys.
