Nurse practitioner convicted of unlawful opioid distribution in Manchester

Prescribed 15,000 oxy pills to 4 people

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A jury in Chattanooga this week convicted a man of unlawfully distributing prescription opioids.

64- year old Mark Daniel Allen was a nurse practitioner at a clinic in Manchester that he owned.

Prosecutors say he distributed oxycodone for non medical reasons and used the clinic for drug distribution.

They say he wrote prescriptions for more than 15,000 pills through Valley Family Medical to three women who were having relationships with him.

Plus a male patient who later died.

His sentencing is scheduled for January.
