Office of Family Empowerment celebrates milestone

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-  A local resource for struggling families celebrated a milestone Tuesday.

The Chattanooga Office of Family Empowerment was recognized as being in the bronze tier of the Community Action Partnership’s Pathways to Excellence.

The office operates a series of assistance programs.

These include tailored case management for families in crisis and assistance for low-income families who are struggling to pay electricity bills.

Representatives for the office say this award is a testament to their work.

Rachel Howard, the executive director of that officer, said, “We are the first agency in Tennessee to achieve this level, and we are going to be going further. This is a big deal for us because we are the first, we are the pioneers, and we have earned our bronze star!”

Their celebration luncheon was held at the Carol Berz Family Justice Center.
