Officials break ground on new Ganns Middle Valley Elementary
Hixson, TN (WDEF) – Hamilton County officials gathered Monday morning to officially break ground for a new school…
A long time in the making.
The $29.4 million school project should be open in August of 2016.
Not only will the new building replace the current 78-year-old Ganns Middle Valley, it will also replace the 100-plus year old current Falling Water Elementary School.
Hamilton County Commissioner Marty Haynes said, "Actually in the ’98-’99 school district decided that this was a school of need, we worked on it, all the commissioners before me, Charlotte Vandergriff, Jim Coppinger, Mitch McClure, were all involved and today’s a culmination of the efforts of, their efforts and the community – the Middle Valley community."
The new Ganns Middle Valley will have space for 1,000 students.
It will also have two gyms.
The current school doesn’t even have one.
