One dead following officer-involved shooting on Kellys Ferry Road

UPDATE: One man is dead following an officer-involved shooting on Kellys Ferry Road on May 8, 2026.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), around 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a domestic assault call between two parties.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with one party and the other party was located in a parking lot in the 3200 block Kellys Ferry Road.

They share at around 11:40 a.m., shots were fired, leaving one man dead.

Per CPD policy, the officers have been placed on administrative leave.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is leading the investigation.

The scene was secured and no officers were injured in the incident.


CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — CPD is investigating an incident that occurred outside the John A. Patten Community Center on Kellys Ferry Road.

They say there is no threat to the public and they are asking individuals to avoid the area for now.
