One dead, one injured in shooting on Cowart Street, police say
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police say one person is dead and another injured after an early morning shooting on Cowart Street.
Police say officers responded to a person shot call around 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1400 block of Cowart Street.
According to officials, officers found two males suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot across from Coyote Jack’s nightclub.
Both were taken to a local hospital.
Police say 22-year-old Sharone Porter died from his injuries.
The other victim, 24-year-old Torrie Porter, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Chattanooga Police say investigators are investigating statements that a verbal argument between the two inside the nightclub may have occurred before the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
