One displaced after home catches on fire from faulty heating unit
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Fire Department handles a residential structure fire off of Brainerd Road and advises pedestrians to avoid the Brainerd Road area by the tunnels.
The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a fire just after midnight on Monday, January 26 at W Brow Terrace.
The resident escaped the burning home, and the firefighters had to be removed from the structure due to hazardous conditions before continuing to put out the fire.
Officials say the scene indicated that a faulty heating unit may have caused the fire.
One person has been displaced.
The fire department advises pedestrians to avoid the Brainerd Road area close to the tunnels due to a large runoff of water from the operation. In the current weather conditions, it is freezing. Public Works will bring out a salt truck to handle the situation.
