One man dead after pointing a gun at an officer

Memphis, Tenn. (WDEF) – TBI special agents are continuing to investigate a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday morning involving officers from the Memphis Police Department.

According to the TBI, the information shows that the incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. in the 4100 block of Northbridge Avenue as officers were responding to a call about a man firing shots into the air.

They stated that when officers arrived on scene, Vontorian Anthony pointed a gun at one of the officers.

Another officer discharged their weapon striking Anthony.

Anthony was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

At this time, this investigation remains active and ongoing and there are no further details available.
