One person killed in overnight house fire near Haletown

HALETOWN, Tenn. (WDEF) —  One person is dead following an early morning house fire Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Haletown.

Haletown Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of Highway 134 just before 12:50 a.m. for a structure fire with reports of entrapment.

While en route, mutual aid was requested from Sequatchie Fire, Jasper Fire, and Jasper Highlands.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke was pouring from the eaves, and visible flames were coming from inside the home.

According to the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters forced their way in and made their way to a bedroom, where they found one person dead.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and ventilated the house to clear out remaining smoke.

Fire investigators then began their work to determine the cause.
