One Year of Steel Pioneer

A ribbon cutting for Dade County's own live-fire cooking class!

DADE COUNTY, Tenn.– Steel Pioneer just celebrated its one-year anniversary, commemorating the event with a ribbon cutting.

With support from the Alliance of Dade County, the event took place at the Steel Pioneer base, hosing the community and feeding them home made pizzas cooked in the open flame oven.

The business teaches guests the skill of live-fire cooking outdoors, and its owner David Hussey hopes that the experience will help Dade County shine for visitors.

“…People are coming out here and going ‘wow, this is so close to where we are. We’re right next to Cloudland Canyon’,” said Hussey. “There are all kinds of cool stuff going on inside Dade County that I think people are unaware of and I feel like I just add to that. Add another thing that’s going to bring people up to this area to see how cool it is.”

As a recent transplant from New York, Hussey and his wife have fallen in love with the community and local connections that come from a space like Dade County. Hussey continually spoke of his community partners which included farmers, ranch hands, and local bakers where he gets all of his supplies. David says he hopes that any visitors to Steel Pioneer will come not just to learn, but to see the beauty of the community he loves.
