Ooltewah man facing 7 felonies after alleged pool robbery
It happened at a community pool inside the Thunder Arms Trail subdivision.
Eric Novelli, 47, of Ooltewah was charged with three counts of robbery, two counts of false imprisonment and two counts of assault.
Three teenage victims told deputies that Novelli, a 6′ 2”, 280-pound man confronted them at the pool and demanded their stuff.
A 5′ 2”, 100-pound female victim told deputies that he he slung her around while attempting to take her items from her.
The three kids told deputies they were scared because of Novelli’s physical size and the fact that he had already pushed one of them. They also told deputies that he physically prevented them from leaving the pool until they forked over their personal items.
Two more deputies who arrived on scene tracked Novelli back to his home which was nearby.
According to the arrest affidavit, Novelli matched the description of the person who reportedly robbed the three teenagers at the pool.
Novelli reportedly told the deputies that he saw the three kids at the pool and felt he needed to go deal with them. Deputies reported that Novelli even used racial slurs when describing the three teenagers.
He denied taking their property but when deputies searched his home, they found the items that were reported stolen.
Novelli is now out of jail on bond.
