Ooltewah roads safety audit approved

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Hamilton County Commission has approved a safety audit for two Ooltewah roads.

These are Snow Hill and Hunter Roads.

This study was commissioned after a fatal crash last month that killed a 16 year old Ooltewah student on Snow Hill Road.

Now that the audit has been approved, engineers will begin their study which will consist of numerous steps.

“Right now they’ve already started putting counters out in anticipation of this. We plan to have updated counts, find out which sections have the highest crash rates and what caused those crashes and determine a good fix for those,” said Hamilton County’s development director Nathan Janeway.

Janeway says the study should last about five months.

When finished, those results will be presented to the county commission, which residents will then be able to give their feedback.
