Ooltewah and Soddy Daisy Return Plenty of Experienced Players This Fall

Ooltewah, TN-(WDEF) Ooltewah and Soddy Daisy are the two biggest high schools in Hamilton County.
Players and coaches from both school’s football teams met with the media Tuesday to discuss their upcoming seasons.
Ooltewah jumps up to Class 6A this fall.
They’ll join a region with Bradley Central, who earlier made the move to the state’s highest classification.
Said Owls head coach Mac Bryan:”Bradley Central will tell you that they are a better program than they were two years ago because of who they have had to play. I have actually talked to Damon (Floyd) about that. It has made a difference in what they do.”
The Owls offensive line should be ready to handle the rigors of 6A football.
Said Bryan:”Offensive line we will start five seniors right now.”
Said offensive lineman Zaire Bruner:”It helps. Keeps you relaxed, especially knowing you have four other guys watching your back.”
Soddy Daisy is hoping for quarterback stability.
Injuries forced the Trojans to play three different Q-B’s last season.
Said running back Ty Boeck:”I think for everyone involved it was a learning process. We all eventually got better from it.”
Coach Barnes certainly did.
He’s going to play more than one quarterback this season.
Said Trojans head coach Justin Barnes:”This was the first year where injuries took its toll on us. Be honest, I was not prepared for that. So this year, it’s not going to be that mistake.”
The Trojans return eight starters on both offense and defense, but back-ups are needed.
Said Barnes:”Our problem is our depth. We have the guys that are out there and committed. And after that, it kind of falls off a little bit.”
Soddy Daisy and Ooltewah both would enjoy playing mistake-free football.
Said Bryan:”There are so many moving parts in a football game on every single play that if you go into any game, and you tell me that we are not going to have a single missed assignment. We are going to have no turnovers and no penalties. It takes a pretty good team to beat you.”
